WebMD - Definition and Overview

WebMD is a american dot com company that offers a health care information portal for physicians and consumers along with a variety of software products and services related to the health care field. The company was founded in Atlanta in 1998 and later merged with Healtheon in 1999 to become Healtheon/WebMD. Following the 2000 merger with Medical Management Corporation and OnHealth Network Company the name was changed to back to WebMD Corporation.
