Wells College is located in Aurora, New York. Wells is a liberal arts college for women located on the shore of Cayuga Lake, founded in 1868 by Henry Wells, who was committed to providing education to women. The Wells motto is Habere et Dispertire--To Have and To Share.
In October 2004 The college announced that it would become a co-educational institution in 2005 by admitting its first male students. The reason provided was a need to increase enrollment and revenue. This announcement was met by an immediate protest by the female students.
