Werner Roth was a comic book artist perhaps best known for immediately succeeding Jack Kirby on The X-Men. Initially on that title Roth used the pseudonym Jay Gavin, taken from the names of his two sons.

Werner Roth is also the name of a US soccer player most associated with the New York Cosmos. He was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1989. He also played German soccer team captain Baumann in the 1981 movie Victory.
