• Caspar Wessel, a Danish-Norwegian who was the first person to describe the complex numbers.
• Johan Herman Wessel, a Danish-Norwegian writer. The brother of Caspar Wessel.
• Horst Wessel, a Nazi Brownshirt who was glorified as a martyr by the party in the Horst Wessel Lied.
