Westchester County Airport - Definition and Overview

Westchester County Airport serves that suburban county, and to a degree New York City. Its IATA Airport Code is HPN, derived from its location in WHite PlaiNs, although by some accounts the code is taken from the neighboring communities of Harrison, Purchase, and North Castle.

The airport was originally constructed for military purposes, home to an Air National Guard unit, but today is used for general aviation and commercial service, which began in 1947. It is operated by the government of Westchester County, New York.

Westchester County Airport has one terminal.
