While You Were Sleeping is a film (romantic comedy, 1995) starring Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman, Peter Gallagher, Peter Boyle, Jack Warden, Glynis Johns, Micole Mercurio, Jason Bernard, Michael Rispoli, and Monica Keena. It was directed by John Turtletaub from a script by Daniel G. Sullivan and Frederic Lebow.
Bullock plays Lucy, a Chicago subway token attendant who rescues a man from the tracks when he falls unconscious on them. Because he is so handsome she quips to a nurse in the hospital that she is the man's "fiance" and consequently the man's visiting family are told of this. Lucy is, at first, too caught up in the madness of everyone's panic to tell the truth. Later, however, she is so embraced by this family that she cannot bring herself to reveal what really occurred. In the meantime she falls in love with the sleeping man's brother.
