Williams Arena is on the campus of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was constructed in the 1920s and opened in 1928 and was called Minnesota Fieldhouse until the 1950s. The Arena was remodeled in the 1950s, renamed Williams Arena, and divided into two separate arenas within one buidling. The larger one houses the men's and women's Minnesota Golden Gophers basketball teams. The smaller arena was originally used by the ice hockey team unitl the early 1990s, when it relocated across the street to a new arena. That smaller arena now houses the volleyball, wrestling and gymnastic teams.
