Womad - Definition and Overview

World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) is a festival started in England in 1982. The festival arose from Peter Gabriel's interest in sharing and celebrating world music, arts and dance. A typical festival will include live performances, workshops and events for children.

WOMAD has held festivals in over 20 countries, including Australia, Japan, UK, USA and many European countries.
