The Wyoming Valley Massacre took place in Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley on July 3, 1778. Iroquois soldiers, at war with the United States on account of the American Revolutionary War, killed some 360 settlers. The massacre provoked outrage among colonists and provided the impetus for the retaliatory Sullivan Expedition. |
