Best known for articles about comics, Xero included articles on a wide range of topics and a spectrum of well-known contributors. Some of these included Roger Ebert, Harlan Ellison, Avram Davidson, James Blish, Walt Willis, and Ted White.

Articles from Xero were collected to form the basis of the book All in Color for a Dime (1970) and The Best of Xero (2004)

Xero won the Hugo Award for Best Fanzine in 1963.
