YMAF-A6BD Zamzazar - Definition and Overview

In the anime series Gundam Seed Destiny, the 'YMAF-A6BD Zamzazar is a prototype amphibious mobile armor created by the Earth Alliance. It has a giant body with a unique, crab-like shape. Three crew members are required to control the Zamzazar (a pilot and two gunners, one operating the claws and the other operating the beam cannons). Each of the Zamzazar's four limbs is equipped with a retractable heat claw, a beam cannon, a multi-phase energy cannon, and 4 CIWS guns. Besides this a powerful array of weapons, it also has a powerful beam reflector shield, strong enough to even deflect the positron cannon blast from ZAFT's Minerva.

It first saw action in 73 CE when it was deployed against Minerva from a fleet of Earth Alliance ships to gather some battle data. In the ensuing battlem, it deflected a beam from Minerva's "Tannhäuser" positron cannon and proved quite a match against Shinn's ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam. Although it ripped away the Impulse Gundam's right leg with its heat claw, it was ultimately destroyed when Shinn went into SEED mode and stabbed the mobile armor through the cockpit with his beam saber.
