Yajirobe first appeared near the end of Dragonball (anime).
He is a fat, lazy mountain man who swears a lot. The first thing he does when he meets Goku is accuse him of stealing his breakfast. He does prove to be stronger than he looks, when he kills the demon known as Cymbol by slicing him in half with his sword.
In Dragonball Z, he is not a major fighter (he does have an important role in the Saiyan Saga, when he saves Goku's life by slicing off Vegeta's tail thus weaking the enemy Saiyan) but he is more for support and comic relief. He lives in Korin Tower making senzu beans for the Z Fighters.
