Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi - Definition and Overview

Yamaguchi (山口市 Yamaguchishi) is the capital city of Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.

In 2003 the city had an estimated population of 142,236 and a population density of 398.53 persons per km². The total area is 356.9 km².

The city was founded on April 10, 1929.

There is a Catholic cathedral in Yamaguchi city which commemorates the visit of Saint Francis Xavier in 1550.
