Yamaha Motor Corporation (ヤマハ発動機株式会社) is a motorized vehicle-producing company, initially part of the Yamaha Corporation. After expanding Yamaha Corporation into the world's biggest piano maker, former Yamaha CEO Genichi Kawakami took Yamaha into the field of motorized vehicles in 1955. It was recently split off from Yamaha Corporation in 2001 when Toyota did a stock swap, taking Yamaha Corporation's 4% stake in Yamaha Motor in exchange for 4% of Toyota stock transferred to Yamaha Corporation.
