Missing image Youreastarlogo.JPG You're A Star You're A Star (meant to be pronounced Eurostar) is a seasonally twice-weekly RTE talent contest, running over the winter months of each year. Presented by Ray D'Arcy, it finds Ireland's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. First shown in 2002 and continued into the following year, it chose the entrant for the 2003 contest, Micky-Joe Harte, who came 11th. However, Chris Doran, who won in 2004, did not do so well in 2004, receiving points only from the United Kingdom, and ensuring that Ireland must pre-qualify for the 2004 contest. The format of the show was changed for the 2005 season, to try to ensure that Ireland chose an act for 2005 with more appeal across Europe. The show is no longer limited to a singer or singer-performer; entire bands can now enter. |
