Zendstation Smilde is a tall free-standing structure, similar as Gerbrandy Tower, built for directional radio services and TV and FM-transmissio in 1959 in the Netherlands. It consists of a 80 metre high concrete tower, on which a guyed mast is mounted. The height of the tower of Zendstation Smilde was with this mast first 270 metres. It was enhighed, so its total height is now 303.5 m / 996 ft.
There was a plane incidence, at which a plane cratched the aerial mast of this tower and bowed it.
