The Zunyi Conference took place in January 1935 while the remnants of the CCP were partaking
in their Long March to Yanan. During the conference, Mao Zedong blamed Li Lisan for their failure at Jiangxi. It was also at this time that Zhou Enlai joined forces with Mao and further pushed for a communist style government. Mao was re-elected to the head of the party, and was therefore referred to as Chairman Mao.
