 Dream Interpretations  Dreams about: levels

Dreams

Interpretation: To dream that you are dreaming is usually the result of excessive worrying. Usually, the dreamer wakes up from their dream and find out that problems in their life are all straightened out only to discover that they are in yet another dream. It is not uncommon to have more than two levels to a dream. The main reason for this is fear and worry over life's circumstances. There is no real interpretation for this dream as it is more of a state of the mind of the dreamer rather than a symbol.

Escalator

Interpretation: Dreams about escalators represent changes in our lifestyles or in our romantic status. Going down an elevator is a common metaphor for entering into deeper levels of awareness. Going up means you will succeed in getting where you want to go, but there will be challenges along the way.

Crown (gold)

Interpretation: A crown made of gold and jewels symbolizes power, honor, and status. It could also symbolize an accomplishment or a passage into higher levels of consciousness or spiritual awareness. When interpreting this dream, pay attention to what kind of crown it is and who is wearing it. This dream may be congratulatory, (i.e. esteem for a job well done). Different types of crowns may have varying meanings (e.g. Jesus had a crown of thorns and was a martyr). All crowns are circular and in that way they bring up issues of completeness and wholeness and point to the center of personality.

Father (Dad)

Interpretation: Dreams with fathers in them can be looked at on several different levels. You may be dreaming about your father and expressing your feelings about him in a safe way. Traditionally, a father dream can be seen as symbolizing authority and power. In the dream you may be expressing your attitude about strengths and weaknesses as they relate to your position in life and your general attitude toward society. The image of the father could also represent the "collective consciousness," the traditional spirit, and the yang.

Subway (train)

Interpretation: Interpretation of subways is based on your experience with this mode of transportation. If you regularly use the subway, you may need to look at the other parts of the dream more carefully. If the subway is not a regular part of your daily routine but is the primary dream image then you can consider it to be symbolic of the way that you navigate through your own emotions and hidden parts of self. The subway is under the ground and represents the unconscious parts of self. All of us interact on conscious and unconscious levels. We have intuitive feelings and unspoken understanding that direct our lives as much as the obvious and fully conscious things. Consider the subway ride in your dream and try to understand what it is conveying to you about your more subtle navigation through ongoing life experiences.

Running (escape)

Interpretation: Dreaming of running competitively should be distinguished from dreams which have you running to or from something. If you are simply running with no goal, it may be an indication that you need to slow down in your every day life. If you are competing, you need to consider your recent rivalries and realistically look at the current challenges. If you are running in a race and win, your unconscious may be expressing confidence that you may or may not feel in the wakened state. Running in your dreams may also symbolize the energy levels, the strength, or the force that you have to get through life.

School (university)

Interpretation: This dream may be interpreted on several different levels. If you are the student you may be feeling inadequate or lack self confidence. Either way, going to school or attending class in a dream is your unconscious reminder that there is a need for new learning and that you may have not learned an important lesson. School may not always be a positive experience, but it is always necessary. Ask yourself what do you need to learn more about? If you were a teacher in your dream, you may be dealing with issues of authority. From a spiritual point of view, some believe that in the dream state an individual may travel to an inner plane or the spiritual realm, where they can attend classes which assist in spiritual growth and development.

Snake (serpent)

Interpretation: In some cultures snakes are highly regarded and symbolize the ability to transcend into higher levels of consciousness or into areas of knowledge that exist outside perceived time and space. In the pre-Christian days, snakes were considered symbols of fertility, healing, and nurturing (the healing serpent representing a god). Post Adam and Eve, snakes are often considered symbols of temptation and evil, anger, and envy. Snakes emerging out of the ground may represent your unconscious or repressed materials coming to your conscious mind. Freud thought that the snake was a phallic symbol. It is amazing how many people have snake dreams! Most snake dreams seem to be disturbing and they leave the dreamer feeling anxious and afraid. There are no simple interpretations to the snake dreams. Each dreamer must consider their own situation and all of the details of the dream. Sometimes snakes may be phallic symbols and other times they represent negativity in our lives that hampers our progress and constantly threatens us. In the long run the snake may be a positive symbol; it may represent difficulties that lead us to the center of personality and result in feelings of completeness.

Tunnel (tunnels)

Interpretation: When interpreting this dream, consider all of the details and the quality of your experience. Did you see a light at the end of the tunnel, or were you trapped in a tunnel unable to determine your location? The tunnel could represent a variety of things. If it was not an unpleasant experience, it may symbolize a transitional period and a passage into new levels of understanding or ways of living.
