Whitespace - Dictionary Definition and Overview

Whitespace : 

(Based on the colour it produces on white paper) Any contiguous sequence of spaces, tabs, carriage returns, and/or line feeds. Whitespace might also possibly include form feed characters. The term is common on Unix.
